Preterism: Pure Christianity or Dangerous Cult?

It is Saturday morning, you are getting ready to do some of those weekend projects that have been piling up for the past six months, when you hear a knock at your door.  As you glance out the window you see two nicely dressed ladies holding a variety of books and magazines waiting patiently for you to answer.  As you open the door slowly, you are greeted with a smile:  “Good morning!  My name is Cindy and this is Tonia, and we are here in your neighborhood today talking to your friends and neighbors about world conditions.  The price of gasoline, the falling stock market–we are facing some real challenges ahead, wouldn’t you agree?” [PAUSE].  “Did you realize the Bible predicted these conditions 2,000 years ago?  Listen:  “In the last days, critical times and hard to deal with will be here…”  In this issue of the Watchtower there is an interesting article that addresses some of these “critical times” and how that Jehovah God has a purpose in mind to bring an end to the wickedness and greed, and rescue honest-hearted people from the problems of this old system of things.  We would like to leave you with this issue of the Watchtower and Awake! and perhaps come back next week and get your reaction to the article.  There is no cost or obligation.  Does this sound like something you would be interested in?”
